Michigan Home Resource Guide Features Lakefront Renovation

Lakefront Home is rated using National Association of Home Builders voluntary "Green Building" Rating System

The 2008 Fall Issue of Michigan Home Resource Guide features a major lakefront home renovation by Kerridge Architecture + Construction. When rated after construction, using the National Association of Home Builders “green building” rating system, this home would qualify for a Silver Rating, for its green building component. Some of the components that qualify for the rating include site utilization, energy components, material selection and overall design.

This beautiful home is a good example of the variety of service formats Kerridge Architecture + Construction is involved in. The company acted as the General Contractor for this project. Architect Bradley Wheeler AIA developed the plans for the owner and as general contractor, Kerridge solicited bids and constructed the home. As architect and builder, Kerridge completed the interior detailing during the course of the project and guided the owner through the many material and product selections. Kerridge developed the finish details in coordination with the Interior Designer and owner for several areas of the home. Careful planning, product and material selections enabled this home to be considered a “Green" Home. The close coordination of this design and construction produced a beautiful renovation project.

Some of the many unique features of the home include its African “Kilimanjaro” granite countertops and butler’s pantry with copper ceiling. The renovation included the addition of a grand wood-shingled octagon tower facing the water. The tower houses a wine tasting room, sunroom off of the kitchen, and very private master bedroom suite overlooking Grand Traverse Bay. The unique personality and wonderful character of the home is what you will find in a home built by Kerridge Architecture + Construction.
