A primary goal of Kerridge Architecture + Construction is to make all of our projects focus on sustainability to the best of our abilities and as allowed by each project. Sustainable design or “Green “building is the wise utilization of available resources through careful design to minimize the impact our buildings have on the environment. As architects, our skills can be used to craft and specify projects to reduce this impact. As part of our commitment to sustainable design, John Kerridge obtained from the USGBC his LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) designation. Utilizing the available resources of both the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the National Association of Home Builders planning and evaluation tools, we evaluate these opportunities with our clients and their projects and encourage the appropriate design and construction techniques.
Renovation, by its nature can be a sustainable building activity. The reuse of an existing site and existing building is a great start. We then will guide the project to the next steps towards sustainability in our design process. We always look for sustainable opportunities in design and construction process.
