Traverse City Design Builder Meets Dental Building Challenge

Difficult site and short schedule challenges met in the creation of this unique Northern Michigan dental building.

This professional dental office building presented multiple challenges to the team at Kerridge Architecture + Construction. A fast track schedule and a difficult site in a medical office development was the challenge. The building needed to provide Barrier Free approaches at each floor level and to neatly blend between the existing elevations on both the front and rear sides. A creek at the rear of the building created an extensive setback requirement and the building needed to provide space for two distinct dental office practices.

The design created a single entry and provided for two distinct dental practices on the main level, with a shared lower level. Utilizing an existing site with an existing building, demolition was completed to make way for this building. The design focused patient care areas on the wonderful creek environment and wooded views of the site give patients a feeling of being in the woods during treatment. Each dental office space was created to represent the unique needs of the individual dental practice. One office was designed primarily as operatories and in a clinical style, the other in a “kid” friendly design with playful elements and colors, while meeting the practice needs of the office. The building design and construction were completed in less than six months and within budget.
